A brief introduction to the press riveting machine

A press riveting machine is a general term for riveting equipment, including corn machines and other similar devices. Typically, when people refer to "riveting machines," they’re usually talking about press riveting machines. These machines can be categorized into two types based on their power source: pneumatic press riveting machines and hydraulic press riveting machines. Press riveting machines are primarily used for joining solid rivets, hollow rivets, and other types of fasteners. They can either flatten one end of a solid rivet into a flat or mushroom-shaped head, or curl the open end of a hollow rivet to create a flared effect. In terms of riveting techniques, press riveting machines employ two main methods: radial riveting and oscillating (or swing) riveting. This type of machinery is widely used for connecting sheet materials with rivets—often paired with specialized rivet nuts. By applying pressure, the nut, screw, and plate are securely fastened together. Applications include assembling chassis cabinets, automotive components, ventilation ducts and dampers, as well as washing machine casings.

The press riveting machine (also known as a spin riveting machine or roll riveting machine, among other names) is a new type of riveting equipment developed based on the principle of cold rolling. It refers to mechanical devices capable of joining objects together by riveting. The use of rivets solves the issue where certain sheet metal parts, after bending, cannot be directly riveted onto conventional bevel cast steel machines.

This equipment is easy and safe to operate, featuring a hand-protecting device that safeguards workers' fingers. The press riveting machine primarily consists of rotating and pressing components, making it ideal for applications requiring rivets—such as hollow rivets, semi-hollow rivets, and solid rivets. Common types include automatic press riveting machines (designed especially for semi-hollow rivets, these machines offer automated material feeding, boosting riveting efficiency while minimizing manual labor) and conventional press riveting machines (which are further divided into pneumatic and hydraulic models), typically used for fastening solid rivets or larger-sized hollow rivets.

Riveting machines are commonly used for joining sheets of material and rivets, typically employing specialized rivet nuts. By applying pressure, the nut, screw, and sheet are securely fastened together. Applications include chassis and cabinets, automotive components, duct dampers, washing machine housings, and more. Today, there’s an even more advanced process called "rivet-free riveting," which, as the name suggests, allows two metal sheets to be directly joined without the need for rivets.
